Uniworld will launch three new-build European river cruise ships in 2027.
The ultra-luxury river cruise line has also extended its partnership with Aqua Expeditions to offer two sailings in Indonesia.
The three new European vessels joining the fleet in 2027 are all branded ‘Super Ships’ by Uniworld, with capacity for 154 guests.
Audrey and Marlene will have a similar layout to sister ship Emilie, which launches next year. They will sail on the Rhine, Danube and Moselle.
The third ship, the São Rafael, will be a brother ship to the São Gabriel, and will operate on Portugal’s River Douro.
By the time the new ships join Uniworld’s fleet in 2027, it will have retired three of its older ships. The River Queen and River Princess will be retired to Trafalgar in 2026 and the River Duchess will retire in 2027.
Its 2027 programme includes six new itineraries; five in Europe, and a 13-night cruise in Indonesia on Aqua Expeditions. The cruise on the 15-suite Aqua. Blu, Uniworld’s first in Indonesia, combines three nights in Bali and three nights in Singapore with a seven-night cruise along the Indonesian coast.
Uniworld UK & Europe MD Chris Townson said the cruise line had put the 2027 programme on sale earlier than previously because its customers have returned to booking at least a year in advance.
“We have gone back to a pre-COVID booking curve, especially for long-haul,” said Chris. “Even for European cruises, we are seeing bookings coming in early.”
Revenue for 2026 from the UK is up 48% year-on-year, said Chris. “We are in an ultra-luxury bubble,” he added. “Our customers keep coming through the door.” He said 82% of its bookings in the UK are via agents.
